HACRO President Evangelia (Lia) Koraki participated in the 24th HealthWorld Conference, organised by the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, as a speaker in the panel discussion “Maximizing the Impact of Clinical Trials for Science, Patients and the Economy.”
During the discussion, Ms Koraki emphasised that, despite the significant progress achieved in recent years, Greece must accelerate its efforts to become a more attractive destination for international clinical research investment and strengthen its participation in multinational clinical trials.
She highlighted the importance of the forthcoming Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD), which introduces key reforms, including harmonised procedures and standardised clinical trial agreements, aimed at increasing transparency and reducing administrative delays. However, she stressed that timely implementation will be critical if Greece is to remain competitive and fully realise the opportunities offered by clinical research.
Accelerating these reforms will not only enhance Greece’s attractiveness as a clinical research destination but, most importantly, will expand patients’ access to innovative therapies and strengthen the country’s contribution to international clinical research.
The panel was moderated by Professor Achilleas Gravanis and also featured Spyros Sapounas, President of the National Organization for Medicines (EOF); Professor Meletios Athanasios Dimopoulos, Chair of the Department of Clinical Therapeutics, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens; George Kapetanakis, President of the Hellenic Cancer Federation (ELLOK); and Kavita Patel, Managing Director, Greece & Cyprus, Roche Hellas.
