At the annual “Health Above All 2025” conference, co-organised by Next is Now and Dome Consulting, HACRO President Evangelia (Lia) Koraki participated in the panel discussion “Changing the Landscape: The New Era of Clinical Research,” alongside Lilian Vildiridi, Secretary General for Health Services, under the moderation of health journalist Aimilía Stathakou.
The discussion highlighted the significant progress achieved in recent years, while emphasising the importance of maintaining the momentum of reform. Key initiatives—including the establishment of Clinical Trial Offices, the implementation of the new Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD) and the development of the National Biomedical Research Registry—were identified as essential steps towards creating a more efficient, transparent and competitive clinical research environment. The need for meaningful incentives for sponsors and broader public awareness of clinical trials was also recognised as critical to strengthening Greece’s attractiveness as a destination for international clinical research.
In a second session entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Biotechnology: How Innovation Is Transforming the National Health System,” Ms Koraki discussed the growing impact of digital technologies and artificial intelligence on clinical research. She highlighted AI’s contribution to accelerating drug development, reducing timelines and costs, improving quality and patient safety, and supporting the wider adoption of decentralised clinical trials.
Concluding her remarks, Ms Koraki emphasised that artificial intelligence should be viewed as a powerful partner for researchers and healthcare professionals. Unlocking its full potential requires transparency, ethical implementation and robust data protection, ensuring that innovation continues to serve patients and scientific progress responsibly.
HACRO extends its sincere thanks to the distinguished panellists for the insightful discussion and congratulates the organisers for delivering an outstanding conference.
