HACRO President Evangelia (Lia) Koraki participated in the roundtable discussion “Clinical Research in Gynaecological and Genitourinary Cancers – Can We Strengthen Clinical Research in Greece?” during the Scientific Meeting “Gynaecological, Genitourinary and Breast Cancers: Therapeutic Challenges and the Latest Updates from ESMO 2025,” organised by the Therapeutics Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School in collaboration with IASO on 1–2 November 2025. The session was moderated by Professor Meletios Athanasios Dimopoulos.
In her presentation, Ms Koraki highlighted the pivotal role of the State in creating the conditions necessary for a thriving clinical research environment. She emphasised that, as the regulator of a highly interconnected ecosystem, the State must recognise the strategic value of clinical research, establish it as a national priority through supportive public policies, address the structural barriers that continue to delay progress, and work closely with private-sector stakeholders who bring scientific expertise, operational experience and specialised know-how.
She concluded by stressing that Greece’s future position on the global clinical research map will depend on the decisions made today. Building a stable, transparent, competitive and research-friendly environment is essential to encouraging participation in clinical trials, attracting international investment and establishing Greece as a regional hub for innovation and scientific excellence.
