Participation of the Association’s President in a scientific event on Clinical Trials and Artificial Intelligence

On Saturday, March 29, the President of the Association, Evangelia (Lia) Koraki, participated as a speaker in a panel discussion titled “Clinical Trials today and how they change in the age of Artificial Intelligence: Trends and Prospects.” The panel was part of the two-day event “Hematology as an Interdisciplinary Meeting Point in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” organized by the Interdisciplinary Society for Hematology Research in collaboration with the Hematology Clinic of the University of Ioannina.

The panel also featured the following participants:

  • Ioannis Kotsiopoulos, General Manager of PhARMA Innovation Forum Greece (PIF)
  • Vera Vazaiou, Country Head Greece & Director of Global Clinical Operations EMEA at Janssen-Cilag Pharmaceutical SACI (Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine)
  • Nana Palaitsaki, Journalist

The panel was moderated by Associate Professor, Eleftheria Chatzimichail, from the Department of Medicine, University of Ioannina.

With the valuable contributions of the speakers, the panel highlighted the pivotal role of artificial intelligence in advancing clinical trials. Particular emphasis was placed on the benefits technology offers at all stages of the process, from faster patient selection through big data analysis, to real-time detection of adverse events, the development of personalized treatments based on genetic and clinical markers, and the strengthening of study safety and statistical power.

At the same time, challenges and opportunities were discussed regarding regulatory frameworks, transparency, and ethics, aiming to enhance patient trust and active participation in clinical research.
