To carry out its mission, with a central focus on ensuring patients' rights, safety, and well-being, HACRO:
- Collaborates with relevant authorities, institutional bodies, associations representing pharmaceutical and medical device companies, patient organizations, and medical associations to advance scientific methodology.
- Enhances and promotes the education and training of all stakeholders involved in clinical research and practice.
- Undertakes responsible, evidence-based public awareness campaigns and media outreach to inform and sensitize the public about clinical research and practice.
HACRO has established 3 Working Groups:
- Clinical Trials Regulatory Framework : This team monitors Greece’s clinical trials regulatory framework, participates in working groups and consultation processes, collaborates with other organizations, and submits proposals to authorities, ensuring issues are resolved and escalated when necessary.
- Collaboration with Patient Associations : Focused on fostering relationships with patient associations, this team enhances access to clinical research information, provides training, and organizes joint initiatives to support clinical research in Greece.
- Clinical Research Training : Dedicated to education, this team informs members about regulatory frameworks, organizes training sessions and webinars, develops educational modules, and offers customized training to meet specific needs.
HACRO is an active member of the official “Working Group for the Development of Clinical and Biomedical Research in Greece”, coordinated by theMinistry of Health, since its establishment in 2019.
It has also contributed to initiatives led by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Development to support research and innovation, with the aim of attracting commercial clinical investment in Greece.
In addition, HACRO cooperates with the National Organization of Medicines (EOF) to support several initiatives, such as providing feedback on EOF’s Consultation papers and attending meetings.
